ClearGuard collects the minimum data needed to verify protection.

This policy describes the production ClearGuard service at useclearguard.com and api.useclearguard.com. It will be updated before public launch if the product surface changes.

Information Processed

ClearGuard may process device identifiers generated by the app, protection mode, bypass-shield configuration, guarded-site verification status, DNS queries sent to the ClearGuard resolver, and site text or URLs submitted for moderation checks.

When AI moderation is enabled, submitted moderation text may be sent to OpenAI to classify whether a page should be blocked. API keys are stored server-side and are not embedded in the iOS app.

How Information Is Used

Information is used to block adult domains, verify protected settings for mixed-use sites, sync protection status across the user's devices, troubleshoot protection failures, and keep API keys off-device.

Service Providers

ClearGuard uses Cloudflare for hosting, DNS, Workers, and key-value storage. OpenAI may be used for AI moderation when configured. Reddit may be contacted only when Reddit verification is configured.

Retention

Protection sync records are retained while an account remains active or until they are removed during product administration. DNS and moderation responses are designed for no-store caching by default.
